That's precisely what happened when Parthip Thyagarajan, the mastermind behind WeddingSutra, teamed up with Bombay Sweet Shop and The Bombay Canteen to create an event, “Dal Chawal for the Dill”, that left taste buds tingling and hearts full.
A twist on traditions
In the heart of Mumbai, at Bombay Sweet Shop's unique mithai factory and cafe, culinary wizards whipped up a storm of creativity in collaboration with The Bombay Canteen and WeddingSutra. The goal? To showcase the incredible versatility of India's favourite comfort food – dal chawal. At the 'Dal Chawal for the Dil' lunch event, The Bombay Canteen played with different flavour profiles and presented the guests, including some of the best wedding and event planners and other industry stalwarts, with a completely vegetarian menu. With live stations like a Dal Dhokli - wheat flour pasta (dhokli) tossed in a sauce made of yellow toor dal, finished with chilli crisp and parmesan, elaborate small plates like Daal pakwan espuma tostadas, a Mexican take on dal pakwan, Dal Makhani & Chawal Suppli with Stracciatella, and drinks like Indian rice horchata and Roasted Barley Iced Tea, we ensured that everyone had an amazing time.
